Of all the poems in this book, I was drawn to the Haruko poems the most. They seem to be the most personal, and they way they are constructed, it's like Jordan is writing a story of her varying emotional states after the breakup with Haruko by using poems as her voice. It seems like she is really going through all of these emotions. They somehow seem real.
She goes through so many emotions in each poem:
"Alone and longing" (5)
Hopless " How should I/subsist/without the benediction of our bodies/intertwined/or why?" (7)
Gathering Strength (9) "How I became a warrior again"
Mad "like how you done me/mean/hard/gone/hard/done" (11)
In love still " Still I am learning unconditional and true/Still I am burning unconditional for you." (12)
My favorite section was Haruko's reply of No! No! No! (pg. 19) repeated so many times that it makes you wonder what the reason for the rage is and what the backround of this relationship was.
Did anyone else have this same feeling? Or did you enjoy the selected love poems more?

I also enjoyed the Haruko poems more than the selected love poems. I enjoyed "Resolution #1,003" on page 14 for its directness and truth. I read this poem as a pledge from someone who is coming out of those dark places that love can bring us and who must resove to love better, differently, or more selectively. "I will be nobody's fool" (9).
